Introducing Page Ornate, a revival of “Chromatic Ornate” designed in the 1800s by William H. Page.
Samples of the original typeface were published in the 1874 masterpiece of chromatic type: Specimens of Chromatic Wood Type, which we used to carefully redraw the historic typeface.
Page Ornate is available as a Shadow set (60 blocks) or as a full Chromatic set (120 blocks: 60 shadow blocks and 60 fill colour blocks).
Default type height is 23.32mm / 0.918” with a tolerance of 0.05mm along the end grain.
Type height can be customised to suit your press as desired. Also available in didot (cicero) sizes. Contact for further info.
Materials
End grain beech hardwood finely sanded to type height. Each block is finished with shellac and polished with fine steel wool for a smooth print surface.
